The Benefice Choir

The United Benefice Choir was formed by Julie Connell, the Clipston Church Treasurer and organist 2 years ago with the view of singing at the United Benefice services on the 5th Sunday of a month. Just four services a year held in Clipston, Naseby, Kelmarsh and Haselbech Churches.  The Choir is now made up solely of Clipston members from all denominations who enjoy singing good music, although we would welcome other singers from the whole Benefice.

We have now organised a very successful Celebration for the Queen’s 90th birthday, and, two lovely Christmas Celebration evenings. All three of the events the choir lead the singing of Patriotic songs and Christmas Carols, with solos and descants sung by Choir members. This year we were lucky that Jane Ginns came and conducted the choir as well as playing the flute. It has been lovely to see the Church so full with lots of good singing by the audience. We had some lovely non-biblical readings, and Christmas Carols rung by the hand bells. This last Christmas we were joined by the Clipston Folk Band playing before and after the concert, which helped to make the evening even more festive. There was free bubbly and mince pies for everyone. We were very grateful for the help we received from the All Saints Youth Club who helped in passing round food, meeting and greeting people with hymn books and carol sheets.

The Choir members are a varied lot, the majority cannot read music,  some are very experienced, but the one thing everyone has in common, is, that they enjoy singing good music as a group. We really would welcome anyone else who would like to join us, you are never too old and seldom too young! We rehearse alternate Thursday’s at my house. Please contact me. Julie Connell. We really would welcome any more singers. Tel: 01858 525336. E-mail:
