As reported a few weeks ago, we were unsuccessful in our bid for a major grant to deal with the leaky roof. We will of course keep on making applications and eventually we pray that we will be successful.
However there is an overriding fact that we must deal with sooner rather than later. This is that the Church has outgoing expenses greater than its income. It doesn't take a great mathematician or accountant to know that this is not sustainable in the long term.
People often think that Churches get money from their Diocese or the Church of England in general. Nothing could be further from the truth! In fact Clipston Church has to pay a considerable sum each year to pay for the cost of providing a priest, rectory, services, Churchyard and the other facilities which we take for granted. The only income we get is from donations made by those attending services or kind patrons.
We will soon be launching an important planned giving campaign aimed at raising awarenesss of the Church's role in the community and how individuals may be able to contribute to its continuing presence.
