The Diocese of Peterborough and Rutland stands out as being the only one in the Country which is actually expanding. This is a conscious strategy on the part of the Bishop to increase the numbers of Clergy on the basis that this has been shown in the past to lead to increased numbers of worshippers. There is of course a cost to increased numbers and the Bishop has been hosting a series of roadshows to give PCC members the chance to hear about the proposals and put questions to him. Trevor Lake and Steve Carpenter attended one of these roadshows last weekend and were impressed by the upbeat nature of the presentations. Throughout the Diocese, income is increasing as it is in our parish and this encouraging trend is no accident. There is a concerted effort by the Diocese to promote growth in our Churches and we have been exposed to support in our Church.
In Clipston we have increased our income considerably through planned giving and through the fund raising activities of the Friends of Clipston and others.
