Last week we had a short service of thanksgiving for the completion of the south aisle roof covering.
Parishioners and invited guests including representatives from the grant funding bodies and the Architects - local firm JWA, heard the Church choir sing several anthems and then Trevor and Steve did a slide presentation showing the various phases of the work and explain the saga of the bats.
The choir then sang ‘Bless this House’ and Angela said some appropriate words including an old Irish prayer
‘May the roof over our heads never fall in and may those people beneath it never fall out’
We then adjourned to the Orbell room for refreshments provided by the PCC members and a very fine evening it was.
Others attending the evening included the Archdeacon - Richard Ormston and a representative from the Coales foundation - Rev. Bryan Wilcox who used to be the vicar here.
